Simon and Erin's Big Day, in Califonia, spells one weeks holiday in the Sun for the rest of us. A few primary discussions, have take place over a jar in the pub, but as yet nothing is set in stone. One thing though is certain. The Ladies, want this thing organised like a military operation, they want the sunshine on their backs, they want to relax and they don't want to slum it. Luckily, they have nothing to fear. Phillis is in charge.

San Francisco - Accomodation

In San Francisco £45 plus tax gets one room at A Luxary Boutique Hotel, near to Union Square, Macy's and Nike-Town. I "accidently" booked one room at the GALLERIA PARK HOTEL.
Is this a good price? Is it too much? Any comments?

There are only two 5 star hotels in Las Vegas. The Bellagio and The Venetian.
Phil has managed to book one room for one night (monday) for £77 plus tax at THE VENETIAN
It's the biggest Hotel in the world.
Is this too much? or is it fine.

Lone Pine. A Tourist Treat

View from the 24hour jacuzzi

Few people in the UK have had the pleasure to discover a place like Lone Pine. Although not famed for it's wealth of facilities and sightseeing highlights, this oasis on the High Eastern Sierra, nested between the mountains and the desert, is a must for anyone driving from Yosemite to Las Vegas. Firstly it is the only thing on the map which is roughly half distance.
The historical Dow Villa is not only cheap, (from £30 a night), but has the famed 24hour Jacuzzi. Just down the street is Jake's Salloon complete with Pool tables and skittles board. Finally the 24hr restaraunt next door serves up welcome food for the tired traveller.

Tour Name. Ideas please.

I'm Nearly Famous
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
Boys and Girls, now that our flights are booked we need to think of an official TOUR NAME. Any name is a good name, but it helps if it's catchy, a bit odd and looks great on a T-shirt.
To start the ball rolling, and to pay homage to Cliff Richard, the first entry from barnes is, the "I'M NEARLY FAMOUS" Tour 2005. If you think you can do better, (which should be easy), please add a comment below.
PS. you don't need to registar, anymore, to add a comment. (just click below). Winner announced on April Fool's Day
Also start thinking of your two tracks for the Official Tour Tape/CD. More info to follow.

Flights booked

Flights booked
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
Well done Phillis.

With less than 3 months to go before Si & Erin tie the knot, the return flights are now booked. (Updated details on Trailfinders website. Log in details below)
In simple terms, we fly out of Heathrow on Wednesday 8th of June, at 9.30am. This means an early start as we should be at the airport by 8am if possible, (Heathrow Express 7.40am departure - Paddington Station). We land in San Francisco early afternoon, the same day after a 10 hour flight.
The return flight leaves Las Vegas, on Thursday 16th June, at just after 4pm and arrives at Gatwick Airport the following day at around 10am.

Now that the flights are booked, we can sit back a little while Phillis works out an itinery, which suits everybody. Of course if anyone wants to do their own thing for a few days, this is fine. Perhaps let Phillis know what you have in mind, so he can exclude or include you from his plans. I suppose that Phillis will come up with a planned route, then anyone can take it or leave it.

Also our scam/efficient method of getting great hotels for peanuts, will also be wheeled out again. Naturally everyone will be informed, as things progress.

Happy Holidays.

Ladies & Gents- Your input required

Simon Hunt - Last Wednesday
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
After speaking to Phillis, I have been in contact with trailfinders. I enquired about Flights to the USA.

I told the bloke when the wedding was and said that we wanted to fly into San Francisco and out of Las Vegas. I also guessed that we might want to be away for eight nights.

Because there are 10 of us this qualifies as a group booking. What we usually do is get the bloke to hold flights, free of charge for 10 days. This gives us time to discuss things, then either take it or leave it.

Therefore the bloke has held 10 flights at a price of £345 each plus tax. Both Direct, on Virgin Atlantic.

This full itinery is at trailfinders.com. Click on the VIEWTRAIL button. OR JUST CLICK HERE
