Simon and Erin's Big Day, in Califonia, spells one weeks holiday in the Sun for the rest of us. A few primary discussions, have take place over a jar in the pub, but as yet nothing is set in stone. One thing though is certain. The Ladies, want this thing organised like a military operation, they want the sunshine on their backs, they want to relax and they don't want to slum it. Luckily, they have nothing to fear. Phillis is in charge.

Welcome home everybody.

It is with great sadness, that this will be the last entry to the "I'm Nearly Famous Website".

I'm sure that you will all agree that our trip was a huge success, but is already becoming a distant memory, as we return to our mundane lives.

Fear not. Very shortly, holiday photos will be uploaded and will be accessible from HERE.

Also watch the postman as he may be delivering a souvenir package to your homes in the coming weeks.

Adios.

OK Folks. The time has come.

Virgin Atlantic - DIY Seats
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
After six months of chat, chaff & planning, our holiday has arrived.

Now our "Check-in" Plans have changed a little due to things beyond our control. Don't panic though it's all in hand.
Because 11 of us are in a group booking we are not allowed to check in online. But our seats have been allocated for us.
After many flights I have always found that seat "31D" is the best economy seat on the plane (Boeing 747-400). As near the front as possible, in an aisle, near the main exit.

Our seats are pretty close.
33A, 33B, 33C, 33D, 33E, 33F, 33G 33H, 33J 33K and 32C. Andrea was sat at the back of the plane, but I took the liberty of moving her to 32B, (shown as "1" on the map), next to Andy.
In other words we are all sat together.

The downside is we are not checked in and as a result our plans need moving forward by about half an hour.

Basically we should be stood in the queue by 9.30am. Trains leave Paddington every 15 minutes, at 10, 25, 40 & 55 past the hour, and take 15 minutes.

Therefore we should aim to leave Paddington on the 0855 sailing, (arriving at 9.10am). This leaves a little contingency if/when we miss it.

Now we are all grown-ups so lets assume that we can leave enough time to get there, but as a guide lets meet at Paddington Bear at 0845 tommorrow morning.

The "Rainbow Warriors", Andy & Andrea are meeting us at Heathrow. In the queue before 9.30am

See you all there. Don't over pack.

I'm off to see Marillion at Banbury

Tioga Road report for June 4
Today, the crews were able to plow through avalanche zone 21 (Marmot Dome) and meet up with where the County left off. This does not mean that the road is opened. From Olmsted Point to Tuolumne Meadows, the road is plowed only a bit wider than one lane. Equipment failures have lead to this. We still need to widen these approximately 10 miles of road. We still have three active avalanche zones. In these areas, the road will remain only one lane wide until the zones are downgraded. The avalanche team believes Olmsted zone will probably remain a n avalanche zone for at least two more weeks. The road crews still need to plow out the administrative areas, widen the roadway, do ditching, road repairs, sweeping, and most of the signs along the road will need to be replaced. We still do not have a set opening date. We will be opening Segment 2, from Walker Party to Yosemite Creek, Thursday, June 9th.

We perhaps need an alternative plan. I will look into it.

Tescos (Wine) Bag for Life
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
Great news! Tescos now do an excellent smaller version of their "Bag for Life". This one is a steal at just 50p. The bottom portion of the bag, is even divided into six parts, ideal for all your smalls. there is then plenty of space to fit a spare T-shirt and your sunglasses

The other two essential items, your cash-card and passport will easily fit in your back pocket.

Packing sorted!

A belated welcome to Andrea Jane Patrick.
She's a Barnsley lass, aged 34. This brings the total touring party to 12. I'm sure everybody is pleased to welcome her on board.

This raises the Barnsley contingency to 8, or 66%. This is of course fantastic.

Also this raises our TV gameshow stars to two.
Doctor Mike of 15-1 fame and Andrea Jane Patrick of The Generation Game fame.

What a talented lot we are.

One Week to go

paddingtonbear
Originally uploaded by yoooreds.
Exactly one week today, (9am BST), by the "bear" at Paddington Station, our holiday officially starts. Hopefully we will be exchanging handshakes and kisses, admiring each others luggage, and fancy dress outfits. Phillis will be handing out party hats and balloons and will already be on his third roll of film.

We will already be checked onto our aeroplane in 10 seats near the front of the Jumbo, for quick exit and the best place in the customs queue. Badger will have packed a years worth of ironed clothes into a bag the size of a wallet. Phillis will have a bin-bag full of wet washing, hoping that his mum could somehow dry them for him on the plane. Andy Wheater will be late and the Dynamic Duo will have been stood the wrong queue at Luton Airport, since 5am.

Already 5 hilarious events will have happened, including; failed alarm clocks, leaving the gas on, forgetting to worm the cat, trains being delayed and someone forgetting a passport somewhere.

Most of the preparation is now complete. The Official Tour CD is now finished and being printed. We also have a cassette copy for The Doc to play in his hired Suzuki Swift, as they chug on behind us.

"Don't over pack, you'll only need to lug it around".
